Command Ship |
The Baldr-class cruiser belonged to a sub-class of ships designed primarily to command other units with little or no support. 750 meters long, 342 meters wide and half as much tall she carried a rough internal space of 43,861,500 meters3. Fairly roomy for a ship of her length she featured many built in defenses and systems. Her hull was double layered, with a honey combing infrastructure of durasteel-titanium-A alloy struts. The gaps between these struts contained the equipment for her Emergency Response Shielding and Dragon Mail Shielding. The Inner and outer hulls is also composed of Durasteel-Titanium-A Alloy, while not any stronger than standard Durasteel, it was lighter by 10% so 10% more could be used in a ships construction.
The Inner hull is one and a half times as thick as the outer hull to grant more defense to the internal structure of the ship. Behind this are the internal structures of the ship, power conduits, data lines. Primary atmospheric lines and scrubbers. past this is the outermost bulkhead. Rooms inside the ship are mostly taken up by hardware, scanners, transmitters, receivers, transceivers, redundant power, data, and atmospheric systems. The inner most sections of the ship contain crew quarters, and the primary and secondary reactors, and the command bridge.
The Rear of the ship held a hanger able to hold a squadron of small fighters and 2 shuttles, the hanger was guarded by 4 laser cannons that were both both defensive and the primary rear offensive weapons. Each engine pylon housed a specially built Astral Ion Drive specifically built for the Baldr-class to give it its top speed. At the head of each pylon were two, dual long barreled Turbolaser cannons, and a side mounted defensive laser cannon. Placed along the front of the mandibles were 4 additional Turbolaser cannons.
The central forked body contained the forward sensor arrays, the primary electronic countermeasure suit, two labs, and storage. Primary shield generators, eight laser cannons, fire control systems and the primary HIMS is also located in this section. On the underside of the ship, directly opposite the bridge, is the ships "Buster Cannon" a special dual barreled, short ranged, Neutron Cannon. While not as powerful as the cannons on the X-40 Shades it was still a very powerful weapon at range. It couldn't be used for orbital bombardment but in space combat it could easily deal damage to ships larger than the Baldr.
